Pre-weekend update.

Busy, busy week, but aren't they all?

Ben is home from his business trip, he loves my rug that I totally scored on Craigslist, and we're watching a marathon of Tom Cruise movies ("I was afraid I wouldn't be able to use the liar, liar, pants on fire defense.") I am, at this moment, in my bedroom far away from the woodstove, cooling down from a ferocious power surge. I've been thinking lately that one of the good things about going to the gym is that you don't know when you're having hot flashes. You just sweat all the time and everybody thinks you're awesome.

Tomorrow my mommy and daddy are coming for a visit. I'm going to make my dad's favorite spaghetti sauce and homemade bread (and actual spaghetti to put the sauce on, just so you know). He's so easy to please.

And also tomorrow Abbie heads back to school for the first semester of her junior year. Just two years and $50,000 to go!

As part of her getting ready to go back, she needed to have her car (or Ben's car that she drives, as he calls it) inspected. In my effort to teach her how to take care of these things, I sent her out yesterday to have that done. She hates this stuff. They always ask her questions she doesn't know the answers to, like "Is it an EX or LX?" and "Four-speed or five?" and "Four or six cylinder?" and for whatever reason, she gets stressed not knowing the answers. But she lived through the great inquisition, and called a while later to tell me it needed tires, plus rear brakes and rotors. Here's what she said:

"See, Mama, this is why you shouldn't send me out to do these things. I see how much I'm costing you and it stresses me out!"

Bless her heart, she feels for me!

Okay, I'm going to read the last five chapters of Jeremiah now. I've lost track of where I'm supposed to be, so I don't know whether I should be happy that I'm ahead or sad that I'm behind. That might be a good, non-stressed place to be.

Be thankful ~

Karen

"Just two years and $50,000 to go!" You're such an optimist.
