Darcy at Life With My 3 Boybarians is doing a series for October called "31 Days to a Better Photo" and I'm learning a ton from her. Today is day 3 and we're playing with shutter speed. Here are my three photos, taken from my desk (Nikon D5000, 18-55mm lens although I have no idea what that means, and the only setting I know for sure is ISO 200):
This one uses shutter speed of 1/1000
1/320
and 1/125
It appears that a faster shutter speed lets in less light, which makes sense. If I had any little children, I would try to freeze motion as well, but those days are long gone. I'll try this experiment at Tuesday's soccer game.
If you have a camera and don't know how to use it, please visit Darcy and learn along with me!
Be thankful ~
Karen

Hey Karen! Long time no read! haha
I am super excited about you doing this, because I have a Nikon D40 that I would love to know more about besides the on/off switch. :-)
I have SO missed reading your blog...hope you're doing well! - Chel
Congrats! You nailed it!
The longer your shutter is open, the more time light has to get in.
Way to conquer your shutter.
xo,
Darcy
