#3

Where have I been? Writing. And reading. And taking quizzes and planting a garden and editing transcriptions and writing some marketing copy and being mad at Pete because he hears me calling and runs the other direction.

But mostly writing. And not even the fun kind—just papers and discussion board posts for the latest class.

I have one discussion board and a 25-slide PowerPoint research proposal to go, and it can't be over soon enough. I will say, though, that I've gotten more out of this class than I thought I would, and something may actually come of this proposal I've been working on for seven weeks. Time will tell.

Yesterday I got my redneck on, but that's another story for another day.

I've also been reading a good book that I'll say more about when I finish.

But this morning, the big news was grandbaby #3 making his appearance. Yes, it's another boy and that doesn't bother me one bit. Deb and David are such perfect parents of boys. When he was born (in a big tub of water), David pulled him up and said, "It's a boy!" and Deb said (before she even saw him), "I know." They all thought that was so funny, but she never expected a girl. David's family is known for prolific production of boy babies.

When I talked to her this afternoon she said he is perfect so far. He eats and sleeps and doesn't make much noise at all. We'll see if that's still the case when he's 16. Well, the eating and sleeping probably will be. I don't know about the lack of noise.

As of now, #3 is nameless. I think Leah is running a name-the-baby game on Twitter.

It's only Thursday night, but close enough.

I could almost honestly say I've never been happier to see Friday, but there were a few weeks in college that I think beat this one.

In addition to editing a 289-page book twice plus writing a little marketing copy and working on some audio transcriptions, I read eight chapters of Educational Research and took a quiz on them, wrote a quantitative research study review, and then edited a classmate's review. Also successfully spent all the money in the tuition account (not on tuition), and found out I will only have one child anywhere nearby this summer.

Helloooooo, Friday.

But somehow in all the hubbub (is that one word? hyphenated? I have no idea.), I managed to snap a few pictures of our one cherry tree.

And the dessert I made tonight.

Now I'm going to turn into a pumpkin.

Wordless Wednesday

Wordless because I can't say anything about this without crying.

Grad school update.

This past January I took a huge leap out of my comfort zone and started working toward a master's degree in teaching and learning English. I absolutely loved my first class, which was all about educational psychology, cognitive and social development, and coming up with a personalized theory of learning. It was SO fun!

Then three weeks ago I started my second class, Educational Research, also known as The Worst Eight Weeks of Your Life.

In week one (yes, ONE) I had my first disagreement with the professor.

In week two I found out that the source of all these research studies I was supposed to be finding (ERIC) is currently not giving out access to the articles. FAN-tastic.

In week three (this week), I spent 20 hours working on two assignments, neither of which is the final, full-blown research proposal.

Shoot me now.

I haven't worked up the courage to look at the syllabus for week four yet.

For those of you who don't know me on Facebook . . .

This morning's text conversation with Abbey:

A: Had a dream last night you had a baby and I delivered it. Congratulations, it's a boy.

Me: Oh God help me. Let me scrape myself up off the floor now.

A: Hahaha. I clenched my jaw a lot during that dream.

Me: Maybe that's why I couldn't sleep last night. I was having a baby.
